We have developed quite the love of birds at our house. We have an old patio table with a bird feeder on our deck and we love to watch the birds come up to eat while we are sitting at our kitchen table. The result is Aria's ability to identify several different types of birds. The most common birds we see at our feeder are grackles and sparrows. We also see a lot of cardinals and doves. Occasionally we see chickadees, red-winged black birds, and robins. A few times we've seen starlings, house finches and blue jays. The cool part is Aria's excitement about the birds. She always loves to point out what kind of bird is out there and if it is a mommy or a daddy. She knows the difference! If one comes that we don't know, we look it up. She also always notices if the feeder is out of food and wants to help add some more. It is a lot of fun to appreciate God's creation with Aria in such an easy way. We've even talked about how beautiful God made the birds, yet He made us even more beautiful. Oh and I can't forget to mention our friend Mr. Squirrel who visits the feeder regularly, too. Usually when he comes we watch him for a bit and then Aria says, "Augie, squirrel!" And that's the end of that.
