Part of the fun is putting up decorations and making Daddy's favorite foods together. I suppose it probably isn't necessary to hang up happy birthday signs and blow up balloons when you turn 32, but that is the only way a three year old knows how to celebrate a birthday, so that is what we do!
Of course the first thing you must do on a birthday is open presents!
Aria picked hers out, paid for some of it with her own money, and wrapped it herself. We kind of had a "favorite things to do with Daddy" theme for his birthday. Aria said she likes playing games with Daddy so she got him Hungry Hippos!
She also picked out Pancheros and Orange Leaf gift cards because those are her favorite places to go with him. I am so glad they have special time together, just the two of them!
After breakfast (and many more games of Hungry Hippo) we bundled up and headed out to the slopes! What a difference a year makes. After one time of going down with us, Aria was all about going on her own. She went down in the sled on her own last year, but she absolutely didn't want us with her this time!
A strange sighting at the sledding hill, a man with his two kids were sledding downhill in a kayak. It actually worked pretty well. He used his paddle to steer a bit and the hill wasn't too busy so it didn't seem too dangerous. He also had one of his kids let him know when the road was clear. I wonder if we'll convince Grandma to go sledding in her kayak...
We completed our day at our church's Big Band concert and out for our favorite pizza! Daddy sure knows how to pick fun things to do for his birthday!
Most of all it was a fun day celebrating the man who leads our family with selfless character, extreme silliness, immense unconditional love, and a deep reliance on God. We hope your birthday was wonderful, Justin! We love you so much!
