Aria really loves to read books! She'll listen to just about any story, at least for a little bit. But she does have her favorites and gets stuck choosing the same book over and over and over and over and over. Don't get me wrong, it is perfectly okay to read the same book again and again. It is part of how kids learn to read. Hey, she can already recite most of Goodnight Moon. However, the other day I was kind of tired of reading the same book, so I encouraged her to check out a new one with me. We've had Duck on a Bike on our shelf since before Aria was born, but we had never read it. It was an instant favorite!
SPOILER ALERT ;)
One day, Duck decides he is going to ride a bike. He hops on and rides by all the other farm animals. The animals all say, "moo" or "meow" or whatever their noise is, but they are really thinking a variety of thoughts of jealousy to awe to concern. Then, a bunch of kids come to the farm on bikes and go in the house. Next comes my favorite page...no words and all the animals with peculiar looks on their faces. Then they all hop on the bikes and have a blast.
It is such a cute book! Aria likes to make the different animal noises on each page and laughs at the silly comments. I like the "what happens next" of the picture page and discussing the different emotions. If you have a 2-4ish kiddo, check it out! We love it and read it over and over and over and over...
